Research Partners

The Candlewood Lake Authority has partnered with many local organizations and educational institutions to further the scientific research being done on and around Candlewood Lake.

 

A sample of some of the research that has been conducted as a result of these partnerships: 

 

Western Connecticut State University (WCSU)

  • Feasibility of use of Milfoil Weevils to Control Eurasian Watermilfoil

  • Monitoring Colonization and Population Growth of Zebra Mussels in Reservoirs of the Housatonic River Basin

  • A Laboratory Examination of the Effectiveness of a Winter Seasonal Lake Drawdown to Control Invasive Eurasian watermilfoil.

    • Paper published in Journal of Lake and Reservoir Management in December 2014.  Nominated for the James LaBounty Award for Best Paper published in volume 30 #3 or #4, or volume 31 #1 or #2.  Journal Editorial Board felt that the paper was one of the more important contributions to lake and reservoir management in 2014.
