The Candlewood Lake Authority began in 1972 out of a need for a Lake Patrol on the water.  It wasn't until several years later, and declining water quality, that the CLA was also tasked with environmental concerns.

The CLA Marine Patrol has been dedicated to keeping boaters safe on the lake for over four decades, in addition to the many other tasks they perform, often times without recognition and fanfare.
